CrossMark Policy

AJIR uses the CrossMark service to provide readers with an easy way to determine the current status of a published article. Clicking the CrossMark button on any AJIR article will tell you whether the content has been updated, corrected, or retracted since publication.
What is CrossMark?

CrossMark is a multi-publisher initiative from Crossref that provides a standard way for readers to locate the current version of a piece of content. By applying CrossMark to their content, AJIR is committing to maintaining the content it publishes and to alerting readers to changes if and when they occur.

How to Use CrossMark

Readers can click the CrossMark button — typically displayed on the PDF or HTML version of a published article — to:

  • Check whether the article is the current version
  • View any corrections, retractions, or updates associated with the article
  • Access metadata about the article including funding information and licensing
When CrossMark Status Changes

AJIR updates the CrossMark status of an article when:

  • A Correction is published (for honest errors that affect interpretation)
  • A Retraction is issued (for articles with unreliable findings due to misconduct or honest error)
  • An Expression of Concern is attached (when an investigation is underway)
  • A new Version of Record supersedes a prior version

All post-publication changes follow AJIR's Corrections and Retractions Policy and COPE guidelines.

CrossMark and DOIs

Every article published in AJIR is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref. The DOI ensures permanent, stable linking to the article and is the foundation for the CrossMark system. AJIR's DOI prefix is 10.54392.
